: The campsites in the back have beautiful lake access which is a very short walk away, but they go fast. It's a walk in (no reservation) camp site so come early, but it is very reasonable and a beautiful spot. | June 7, 2013, 6:53 p.m.

: North Bar Lake is nearby. It's off the beaten path and not as well known as many other spots in the area. It's beautiful. There's a river that collects into North Bar Lake, which forms another short stream feeding into Lake Michigan. There's also a sand dune right next to the gorgeous sandy beach on Lake Michigan. Gorgeous. Photo above.   #Sleeping-Bear-Dunes   #Sightseeing   #Attractions   #Secret-spot | June 7, 2013, 1:23 p.m.

: There are a lot of very pretty views in this area. My favorite is the Empire Bluffs in Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore. If you go on a clear day, you can see the whole area, including the sand dunes and Glen Lake and Lake Michigan, which sometimes look bright blue and green like the Caribbean.   #Sleeping-Bear-Dunes   #Lakes   #Hiking   #Sightseeing   #Dunes   #Attractions | June 7, 2013, 1:15 p.m.

: If you need groceries or supplies, there are two grocery stores in the area. One is in downtown Empire and the other in downtown Glen Arbor.   #Food   #Groceries | June 7, 2013, 1:13 p.m.

: The nearby towns of Glen Arbor and Empire are popular tourist destinations. Glen Arbor has a lot to offer, including Arts Tavern, which is popular place for food. "The Friendly" in Empire is popular as well.   #Food   #Entertainment   #Attractions | June 7, 2013, 1:12 p.m.

: My friends and I discovered a place called Tandem Cidery, which makes delicious hard ciders. It's a fun place to stop. It's probably a 20 or 30 minute drive from D.H. Day Campground.   #Entertainment   #Attractions   #Cidery | June 7, 2013, 1:09 p.m.

: This area is known for poison ivy so be watchful when you're traveling overgrown paths   #Warning   #Hiking | June 6, 2013, 4:51 p.m.

: The beach here has some rocks so consider bringing water shoes.   #On-Lake-Michigan   #On-Lake   #Beach | June 6, 2013, 4:48 p.m.

: While you're here, the Dune Climb is a must-see. Empire Bluffs and Pyramid Point are also worth a trip. They provide two of the prettiest views in the State of Michigan. Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive has some pretty views as well and is less of a hike.   #Hiking   #Sightseeing   #attractions | June 6, 2013, 3:55 p.m.

: Campgrounds are rustic, wooded, and relatively far apart   #Privacy   #Rustic | June 6, 2013, 3:49 p.m.

: D.H. Day Campground is well placed. It's right on a beautiful Lake Michigan beach and very near Glen Lake and the Sleeping Bear Dunes, named most Beautiful Place in America by Good Morning America (2012)   #On-Lake   #Dunes   #On-Lake-Michigan   #Sleeping-Bear-Dunes | June 6, 2013, 3:45 p.m.
